At the inuqest touching the death of Mrs Heriot, who was found dead hanging on a tree in -an orchard 'at- Spread Eagle on Thursday morning*-the jury returned a verdict that she committed suicide while temporarily insane. A most unfortunate accident, attended by somewhat serious results befell a child aged 2| years, the son of Mr H. Elgin, of T'imaru, on Thursday evening. The child was playing about the kitchen of his. home which is in Buchanan street, with, hip sister, when lie fell into a kerosene-tin full of clothehs and water, which must have been nearly boiling, and was standing on the floor by the fireplace. The child's back was severely scalded, and after lie had been attended by Dr Unwin and Dr Gibson, he was taken to the hospital. On Saturday the cliild's condition was as satisfactory as could be expected, and his temperture was not so high as when he was first admitted. Recovery will probably be tedious, but there is no reason to anticipate serious results.,
