Frederick Hall on remand appeared "at the Ly Helton Magistrate's Court yesterday charged with having attempted to murder Alexander James Muir by. shooting him. with a revolver. On the application of the police accused was" further remanded for seven days. The Hon. B. McNab arrived in Christchurch from Cheviot last night and left for Wellington. The Minister has just completed a tour oyer the route of the South Island main trunk line from Picton to Cbristchurch. He returns from Wellington and goes right through to Gore on Saturday. On the following Monday, in company with the Premier, he will commence a tour through Central Otago starting from Queenstown. ~ INVERCARGILL, March 23. The results of yesterday's Hospital Saturday collections are said to constitute a record for the colong. The total (incomplete so far) is 21050 10s 8d of which the town collections totalled £455 and the outlying districts £554 17s sd.
