BAND CONTEST.
ANNUAL MEETING'. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, February 28. The annual meeting of the. North Island Brass Bands Association was held kit night, Mr M. Cohen presided. The annual report stated that 55 bands were now affiliated, and the financial position was sound, the Association having a. cash balance of £157. Mr Cohen, commented adversely on the withdrawal of the Kaikorai Band from the pre.-.ent contest as unsportsmanlike. A proposal to hold an annual Eisteddfod was held over. It wan decided to revise- and reprint the Association's rules. Hastings- will be the scene of the next contest. It was decided to allot in future different music to the second-chus bands and to wet ionise the first-class bands. A motion to .elect three judges instead of on? lapsed for want of a seconder. NORTH. ISLAND MEETING. .NEW PLYMOUTH, February 29. The final rest selection "William Tell" was pkved to-night on the Recreation Grounds.' and before a large attendance.
