BAND CONTEST.
THE MARCHING COMPETITION. Per Ptsss Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, February 27. The military marching competition was held to-day in the recreation sports ground, and attracted an' Attendance ofupwards of 7000 people who lined, the terraces presenting a very pretty eight. The march "Nibba" was capitally rendered by most of the eleven competitors. The results were as follows:—■
Taranald Garrison, military points, 180 1-3, music 96; total, 276 1-3. Masterton, 179 1-3 and 95; total, 272 1-3. . .
Woolslon, 175 and 96; total, 271. \ Palmerston North, 177 1-6 and 92;' total. 269 1-6. '
Nelson Garrison, 172 J. and 95 s total,' 267i-. Auckland First Battalion, 171 and 95;; total, 266.
Momington, 171 2-3 and 88; total, 259
Hastings, 166 1-6 and 89; total, 255 1-6.
Marton, 170 1-3 and 81; total. 251 1-3. Manaia, 156 and 80; total, 236. Auckland Mounted Rifles, 148 and 82; total, 230. : Trombone Trio.—Wanganui 74 points, Auckland Ist Battalion- 73 points, Woolston 71 points, Mornington 70 points, Taranaki 69 points, Masterton 66 points.
