TIMARU BOROUGH COUNCIL.

At to-night's meeting of the Timaru Borough Council the officers' reports will be presented for adoption, as iollows: i BOROUGH OVERSEER. Mjr Bewick reports that a large amount of street cleaning had been done. For this work a second hand mowing machine had been purchased for £5 iCv, and had proved i;ati*faot©ry for cutting dowii weeds, and had also been used for cutting hay in the park fur the Council's horses. ' Two or three small road work jobshad been done. Fifteen feet of 18-inch concrete pip-fi had. been obtained from the railway and with these the Beverley gully drain jvad been lengthened, and a dray track mwie. The invert extending the drain was also finished. The sewer outlets, had been scooped out, and with a little attention from the caretaker at the Bay should not give imuch trouble. - At! the abattoir the fencing ordered to be done was in hand, 2000 "droppers" had been fixed, and 300 or 400 more were required, and about 100 strainers. The old water cart had been converted into '-a "sprinkler" by the blacksmith, and it was now doing very satisfactory work. It now covers two-thirds of a street at- one stroke, and a trial covered from. Heaton to Sefton street in. 12 minuses. Most of the material was obtained from old binders without cost to the Council. Specifications had been ' .prepared and sent to Christchurch for an iq>. to-date , 12-hor.ie watering waggon, and tenders were asked for by the 9th inst. (10-diy). The building of bathing stages and of bathing vans and rafts for the bay was now ; in hand, and the canvas cover for the rotunda was finished. Specifications for the annual supplies were ready, and tenders should be called for next meeting —for timbei-, earthenware ;pipes, coals, ironmongery, and cast ironwork for two years. The new hose reel waggon was nearly •completed. Lamps would be needed,- and samples and prices had been obtained. A ; >! building surveyor he had certified during Xovember to the plar.is of four new buildings and <ight addition";; total estimated cost £8419. . The, work of cleaning tli-> • water-race was making good progress. ■ The reservoir was being kept full, with a good surplus. On Sunday, Xovember 24th, the miter supply was cut off for the purpese of making repairs to the rose in the licre'-uing well at the reservoir, and the relief valve at Otipua cieek. A number of valvto. and fir* plugs hava been adjusted and repaired, and most of the fire plug indicators were ready for being placed. In November 15 applications for wate* were attended to.

PARK CREATOR. Mr Q. E. Knowles "reported that grasscutting and weeding had taken 'up most, of the time- since last'report. - Long grass in the park" had' been cut for- hay for winter feed.
