Par Press Association. WELLINGTON, December 5. An emergency meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board was held this afternoon to decide what action the Board should takei now that the Union Steamship Company lias acquired a controlling interest iu the Patent Slip Company. The question was discussed in committee. On maiming the- Board decided to instruct its solicitous to take steps to acquire the property and assets of the Patent-'Slip CompsiDV, either at a price to be mutually agreed upon or compulsorily. INVERCARGILL. December 5. 'Mr McCarthy, who hits been senior Magistrate at Southland for over seven years will bi transferred to Napier after Christmas. Charles Cecil Smith,' charged to-day with the theft of a watch-and chain and pendant, w;;s remanded to Gore.
