EVANS' BAY.

A RECLAMATION SCHEME

Per Press Association.

WELLINGTON, December 3.

It is considered practically certain that the proposal which has been before the committees of the City Council and the Harbour Board to reclaim a- wide area of Evans' Bay will be taken up shortly, and eventually carried to a successful issaie. The idea is to' win jfrom' the sea, at the head of Evans' Bay,' an inlet of the harbour, land suitable for the carrying on of industries requiring considerable ground epace, it being considered that the provisions of such land would stimulate industries now in operation and encourage the starting of; new manufactures. The scheme involves the reclamation of more than ICO acres with thte erection of wharves, facilities for boat-building, etc. The Harbour Board has agreed to the scheme and it -is anticipated that the Council will endorse' it at next Thursday's meeting.
