FIRES.
HUNDREDS HOMELESS. Pret& Association-By Telegraph-Copyright Received 10.25 p.m., Nov. 11th. LIMA, November 11. Owing to a devastating fire at lquiciue, 200 persons are 'homeless. TEMiUKA AGAIN TJHE SCENE. •A COTTAGE DESTROYED. Fires arc apparently becoming an everyday occurrence at ifemuka, for still another fire occurred there yesterday morning. Unfortunately the house destroyed was in a street in" which the water-supply was an unknown quantity, and tlie time of the outbreak bein/j about 4.30 a.m. was another reason why the place could not be .saved. The house in question won a four-roomed one. situate in Hornbrook street, and occupied by Mr Z. Kay and family. Mr Kay was in Wellington at the time nnd his wife and three children and a, relative were occupying the house, andi these had barely time to escape, with a litMei clothing. Some neighbours ass'sted to the be«b of their ability and managed to nave some clothing and a piano. All else was destroyed. It is understood the house was insured for £125. the niano for £3O and the. furniture for £75 in the Liverpool and London and Globe office.
