WELLINGTON, November 8. .'., The report of the Residential College Committeei recorded that a contract had been.let at £18,007 for the first part of the College providing, for thirty theological students; The subscriptions during Alio- year totalled £6571, mailing : a total of £16,062, loss £1123-|ilrea.djt.-expended. In addition.!; it. is expected that the' College' will benefit, toother extent of about £6OOO the will of the late K. Wilson, of.Papakaio. The endowment fund for manning' andi equipping the >: College Stands at £723 including £SOO promised 'by, Mr G* F. Bulleri, of The Assembly resolved, to .aim at. 'raising a College Endowment Fund of £15,000. It.was.resolved that, the, committees of the aged-and infirm ministers.', funds (north and. south),,prepare a scheme to provide for women ....workers at Home and abroad, missionaries and deaconesses, on the, occasion of their retirement from service.'; The committe on amalgamation of the church extension and stipend funds reported having reissued an amalgamation scheme with reasons attached. The an-swers-were divided and the committee recommended that the - proposals be abandoned for the present, and the committee discharged. This' was adopted, with the addition that the committee hp appointed, to report to next Assembly on a scheme as. to .'stipends of ministers in weak charges. • The .youth-'.of-i the church committee's repoi:t showed, that the number of Bible Classes was.3ll, against. 302 last year; number of Sabbath Schools 504, against 522,, but many parishes had • failed to ;make-: : reti> -.The total contributions in ; connection with Sabbath .- Schools was £4523. The Assembly agreed-to: release Mr J. C. the position of travelling secretary. ; .;' The report of the; foreign mission committee expressed satisfaction at the i>rogress mad©;in various directions by the mfcsioris. The committee recommended that the services of eight persons who had volunteered for the foreign mission field be acoepted; that, Dr Porteous should visit-India to select a: suitable siohere of work. After consideration the committee's ■ recommendation regarding volunteers ' ftr, foreigntservice was...adopted.-'-. ■. The remainder of Ahei' report was. deferred. Patent Agents, has recognised the necessity, of being represented on the Show Ground ; during Carnival Week. This year;,they are going still further, iind. are haying an extended exhibition of- inventions : chiefly, relating to agriculture. Tliis no doubt prove of great interest) to visitors interested' in up-to-date improvements. 'ln order to insure -that visitors may be able to obtain any .-information they-.. desire relating to patents, Mr P. R. Climie, manage;- of the firm, will be in attendance at their which will be situated at the southern end .of the. Machinery Avenue, the facilities for doing business on the ;ground' will no doubt be availed of, as many visitors cannot afford the time to leave their show interests to go into town, but they may easily, call on the firm on the ground'. :■'' Referring .to. the exhibit of inventions'it' may, be, mentioned that there will be a fine; display of harness improvementa,including horse breaking. devices, etc. This will no doubt prove of special generally. ,who have ideas for -patents are- cordially invited to submit them;'to Mr 'P.
