THE TIMARU SHOW.
•To the Editor of the "Timaru Herald.") Sir.—-Kindly allow me to ask you a question re your.v. comments on the thoroughbred '.stallion class at our late show. You state that the judges are specially to take, into account their capabilities "for getting "weight carriers rather than for raciDg purposes. I '"entered two horses of distinct types, and according to your, .report. I take it that my horses are two of three that were passed over c.ii be-." ing, one too racy or too well bred, . and the other ou account of age. Now, this latter horse has been a!warded first and chiinipionon.nine oecasipnSi andasasfira of weight carriers, the hunting field, and our Point to Point, and Hunt Club Meetings, prove him' to be still a champion of the first water. It is really a pity if on account of his age the judges should overlook him.- Why does the Association take entrance fees for horses over a certain age? In conclusion lam quite satisfied to let the public be the judge of the old veteran, Kulnine, who proved himself a champion on the turf and at the stud, and the grandly-bred, young horse King's Quest, whose first and last appearance it will Ik on a Timaru Show ground.—l am, etc. RICHARD MAHONEY. Levels, November Ist. MOTOR BUS COMPANY. .(To the Editor of the 'Timaru Herald.") Sir, —"Shareholders" letter in your Friday's issue is a sensible one. The pity is he had no notice of the annual meeting. I was amused by one of the speakers stating that he failed to understand how the busses were not the succccs they should be, and thoroughly agree with "Shareholder" as to the passing out of nearly every other local concern started in Timaru. Should he care to give, in a general way, t]ie reasons to his thinking therefore, such would- prove useful to future" intending speculators. Of course if " Shareholders' owns property in the out-. skirts looking to still further rise in value, no doubt he would wish the concern, to go, on, but if modern up-to-date buskes are to ba procured, which portion of the general public would' the. money be expected •to como from? Much was said at |he annual meeting of the valuable iKset these busses are to the town in view •oi' : so very many buildings continuing to bs 'crectc-d all round, with but a toiling; inilux of populat ion or virtually, none* at all, the next best. thing to consider would as-was suggested at the meeting be ''the installation of electric trams" —say a la Christefiurch.—l am, etc., " UP-TO-DATE.
