PLOUGHING MATCH

The ploughing match of the Geraldine Association was held on Mr D. Lewis' farm Kakaka, yesterday. Though in the number of entries it was hardly up to previous years, such was not the case with regard to the quality of the work, done. Th<:re were nine entries, four, of whom were for class A., and the work done in this class_ was of a very high order and would bear favourable comparison with that done at any ploughing; match in the colony. The paddock used was of a heavy loany nature and though a trifle on the loamy nature arid though a trifle on the object in view ,especially for high cutfurrows. The strong wind blowing in the morning while fearings were being thrown, -somewhat marred their straightness. Amongst the successful team?> were some excellent Clydesdales which added to the interest of the large number of spectators present. The judges were Mr -J. Patterson, Keadown ; Mr W. Stevenson, Levels ; and Mr M. Br'ophy, "St. Andrews; President, Mr R Skinner, and secretary, Mr J. Kennedy. The results are as follows :
