A GIRL ASSAULTED.
Per Press 'Association. INVERCARGILL, September 19. Thomas Seator, a little over 16 years of age, was charged at Lumiiden with at-tempt-id rape on a girl, of nine years. Tlie charge was altered to one of. indecent assault at the reque&b of counsel for accused. Tlie .evidence for the prrsscu.tion was to this effect that the girl was returning home after going a message, and that tlie accused dragged lier into the tuGSocks and committed tile offence. The medical examination showed that no damage had b;en done. Eventually the charge* waw further amended! to common' assault, and accused was coiiimitt-d for trial, bail being fixed at £IOO. ■ '
