SUSPICIOUS ILLNESS.

THE PATIENT ISOLATED. The case of the young man (whose name is Kelly) mentioned yesterday as one of suspected pjlague, continued yesterday in the same condition of uncertainty, and the doctors say that two' or three days must elapse before certainty can ,be attained. Dr Finch, District Health Officer, as a measure of precaution recommended the isolation of the patient, and the Mayor, as the town member of the Hospital Board, set about making the necessary arrangements yesterday morning. The two green canvas houses that had been prepared for such an emergency were erected on the Park triangle, by the hospital carpenter and gardener, and Mr P. Foster fitted them with wooden floors. The small amount of furniture needed, for the patient in one tent, and for the nurse in the other, was supplied, and the patient was transferred to the tent by means of the ambulance in the afternoon. One of the hospital nurses, Miss Scott, undertook the duty of isolation nurse, and the patientwill be well cared for. Meals and other requisites for both will be supplied from the hospital. The patient was, last evening, in the same condition as the day before. and though -some of his symptoms ie-F-pmble these of the much-dreaded disease, thex-e is plenty of room for his ailment to be of a different nature. A few days' further observation will set the question at rest. Dr Finch returned to Christ-church hist night.
