In the first division the complaint is that promotion in the raihvav service is Jess rapid than in the postal" department, while they hold that the responsibility is greater. J% is claimed that a statioumaster in charge of a combined railway station and posit office has received .smaller remuneration than the postmaster has received in a post office alone. In regard to eight hours a day the men recognise a difficutly in reducing 'the hours at snm<* stations, but they consider that in view of the increased train services and concessions to the public, that they have not received the pay they should get. The- second division has it is said been granted- concessions to the extent of £BO,OOO, and tho first division, consider that they .should get similar concessions. The resignations on tlus section liave not been numerous, but it is held that- the boys entering the service now are not so good as they formerly were.
