BURIED BY A FALL OF EARTH. Press A*sociation-By Telegraph-Copyright SYDNEY, August 19. Two men named Whidy and Thomas were killed, by-'a fall 01 earth in the British mine at Broken Hill. THREE FISHERMEN DROWNED. LONDON, August 18. Fifty rowing boats, fishing on the Firth' of Clyde, were blown to sea-. Mouf, of them 'returned, and steamers rescued the occupants of the' remainder, except three men who were drowned. FATAL CAPSIZE. HOB ART, August 18. A boat containing three men, who were attempting to get the mails from the wreck of the Kawatiii, capsized, and Oscar Dale, assistant lightkeeper at Macciuarie Heads, and .another, man named Ware, were drowned. Dale's brother was rescued. Dale showed cor.spicious bravery at the time of the wreck in saying several passengers. Per Press Association. ELTHAM, August 19. The 2A year-old daughter of Mr George Maitin, "a" settler on Mangawhero road, Elthani, died suddenly on Saturday. At the inquest which was held to-day evidence -was given that the child ate some German sausage' that had been lying in a. drawer for nearly a. fortnight, and shortly afterwards became sick. The' parents started for town, but the child died on the way. A doctor who held the post mortem' examination said that he wished samples: of the.vomit and sausage to be sent to the Government, Analyst. The inquest stands adjourned. WELLINGTON," i August 19. A, lady cyclist collided with a motor c.ar in Lamblon .Quay this afternoon. In endeavouring to- avoid the cyclist, the "ar swerved on to the footpath, smashing the plate..glass window.of Kirkealdie and Stains' shop. The cyclist was much cut, about, and was removed to th? hospital m an tineoir-cious state. Her name i-s Lena Thompson, a single woman, about, twenty yeais- old. At a. late hour tonight her condition was unchanged. CHRIST-CHURCH, August 39. A man named Walter Henry committal suicide at Templrton to-day by shooting himself through, the head.' The body wis taken to the city morgue i his. afternoon, and an inquest will Jje held to-morrow. A young native of Temuka a half-caste named Steele, had one of his hands badly crushed in a scutcher at Ma (Idem "s flax mill a.t Winchester yesterday. He was conveyed tn Temuka and is being attended to at Dr Hayes' private hospital.
