He sleeps well,-and hopes that the authorities will favourably consider his plea, that he acted on impulse in a heated altercation, and under the influence- of drink. ' PARIS, August 17. Prisoners were placed in Gould', 1 -; cell since ,the moment of his arrest, .with the view of "drawing him out in, 'conversation," and reporting to the authorities any admissions he may make. A similar procedure is being taken, in the . case of Mrs Goold. LONDON, August 17. Renter's Marseilles correspondent reports that Goold has taken a sudden turn for. the worse, and that the Public Prosecurator had informed liiin that Goold had been seized with'night.'delirium and nightmare of the, crime," screaming that .his legs had bften cut 'off arid removed in a. bag. He attacked' his cell companions, tearing their clothes and raining blows-" on their heads. Goold's excitement is attributed, besides his vivid impression of the murder, to the sudden stoppage of liis -whisky, which lie-had absorbed inordmatslv. His wife's counsel has'asked for the appointment of 'it receiver of his estate on llva ground tliat Goold is insane.
