During the week business in the grain trade has been quiet. Some wheat is be- . ing offered, but there is evidently no prospect of doing business at the late high rates. A large line of Tuscan was submitted during the week, and though tho seller who iii-.it asked 4s 5d at a 2£.l station would have taken 4s 3d, he was unable to find a buyer. No change has-h-sen. made; locally in the price of Hour, and in view of an increasing quantity of Australian Hour coming in it is not considered advisable to make an advance. The usual weekly shipment of Hour from Melbourne is about 250 sacks, but the week before last 950 sacks were shipped by the WarriiiKio. and the North Island is receiving supplies from Sydney. There i.« no business doing in oats except in small lots for local consumption. l'otatoes are easier, table sorts and seed being worth only £3 and Up-to-Date seed ss= more at county stations".
