Tha Canterbury Farmers' Co-oj>crative Association report on the horse market «:• Tattersall's? yards on Saturday as follows: —The yarding conipi ised 25 draught, light harness and hackney horses. There .was a good demand for horses fit for present work, but sellers' values being in mo*t instances much highsr than burets were prepared to give, very few sales w-er-e effected under the hammer. We quote valors as under:—Drangbts, young, wii.li trials, £34, £36 to £3B; do. light and aged, £ls. £lB to £2O; light harmi-;-horses. £l2 10s, £l4, £ls to £l6 10,-. Weeds wire almost unsaleable. Jonas and Co. report for the week ended August 3rd as follows:—Rnsine- :• has been quiter than usual, and the demand for nicst goods submitted to public auction has not been too good. Potatoes are getting stow of sale, and the only kinds to sail readily are prime Derwents and Up-to-Datss; other kinds are not asked for. Pigs were a bit of a glut this week, and bidding was lacking in spirit. Wheat, oats, swedes and carroii* are all firm with a fair sale. There was ;i large entry of poultry on .Saturday; lot." were slow of sale, with the exception of about three or four line-' of prime roosters and ducks, which elicited spirited bidding. AH kinds of produce sold at fair rates, and household furniture was enquired for. There was a rather better bidding for ptirebreds sales of which were:—Brown leghorns 5s to 6s 6d, Wyandottes 4s 6d to 5s 6d, each; product—Wheat whole 16s to 17s: broken 15s to 14s, screenings 8s to 9s 6d to ICs, swedes 3s, carrots 4s 6d, kits carrots Is 6d. hoi.se carrots 4s; potatoes—(prime onlv) IX-rwents 8s to 9s. There was a large attendance at the sale of the Mackenzie Mounted Riilea camp equipment, and everything sold in buyers' favour. There is a growing demand for fruit, and local apples are just about done. Prices art—Apples 2id. pears 2£d. mandarins 6s to 7s, lemons 7i; to Bs, oranges 6s 6d to In 6d. Sundries all sold well.
