The House, hits passed the Bounties Bill through 'Committal?- Owing I'd tha exclusion of several items the -total of the proposals originally provided for lias been reduced by £11,750. In the Senate, a motion was carried in favour of voting machines at Parliamentary elections. Mr Keating said he anticipated that, the adoption of' penny postage would result in :i, loss of £160,000 per annum ; but, judging from New Zealand's .experience, the loss would be overtaken in three or four years.
