Campbell Bannerman assured a deputation of Welsh members of the House of Commons that the Government had the fullest desire and 'Expectation to deal -\vith the question of Welsh disestablishment as soon as possible in this Parliament, but in view of the House; of l ords question, he did not think it wise t9 fix a date. H« was convinced that the measure would consolidate the- Welsh national forces. The House of Commons is debating the Army Bill. Sir Haldane announced that lie intended utilising, in accordance with Mr Balfour's' suggestion, 101 out of 124 militia battalions, as third and fourth battalions. They would belong to.;tlie regulars, and the rest to the. territorials.
