Per Press Association. DARGAVILLE, June 17. The. launch Lily ran into a boat belonging to the steamer Batoonu. The occupants, three men and a boy, were thrown out. Thj men were rescued by ropes, but the boy was nearly drowned. • A sailor named Sydney. Rowan jumped in and held him up till the boat came. BLENHEIM, June 17. An inriiate of the prison camp at Dumgree. named Chark'j Hamilton Moir, aged 27, who was serving ;i sentence of 18months' imprisonmeigt, was drowned in tiie A waters river on Saturday afternoon. A gang of prisoners was collecting firewood, and Moir waded: out to secure a floating log which struck him and carried him out of his depth. Another prisoner had a narrow escape in tiying -to Tescue the man. Ihe body was recovered in ten minutes, but life was extinct.
