Buckingham, while agreeing with the proposal 'as a good one. thought it would be better to appoint- a committee to decide upon rules, etc. and report to a, general meeting. • Messrs Tasker, King, Sealy, Shrimpton, Oullmann, Ha.ssall, Beckingham, P. G. Allan and L. James were appointed a subcommittee as proposed bv Mr Beckingham. with power to add to their number. Mr S. Shrimpton was appointed secretary and treasurer pro te-m, rnd it was decided to make th a annual subscription 2s 6d per annum. Twelve of those present paid their subscriptions at once. The chainnan said a suggestion had been made that in order to uicourage flv-fishing i.s against worm-lisiiinsr. a competition for first or second year fishes be held. ''lihe Society'might be aljle to help the Acclimatisation Society in their endeavour to have stripping carried out oh alternate rears onlv. '*.-•.. Mr Tasker agreed with the char,man that the stripping process of fish in the Onihi river had resulted in a sen-city of fish in that river and its tribv.tariess. He thought (he Government should return *ome fiy in exchange for the. millions of ova they received. The meeting agreed that nothing comd be clone to stop "trippinp- altogether, lr't the anglers might join with the Acclimatisation Society "in fretting stocks of fry.
