WAIMATE HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.

The monthly meeting of the Waimate Hospital Trustees was held yesterday. Present: Alessrs J. Sinclair (chairman), At-will, Lvall, Walker, Aliller, Sinilie, and Hart. " , - The surgeon reported twelve patients admitted during the month, making with 18 already there, 30 treated; 15 had been discharged arid two had died. The matron's report, on debts and payments was also received. The payments during the month amounted to £5 16s Id.

The chairman reported the result of conferences with the youth Canterbury Board and their architect, regarding additions to the buildings and as the Trustees' building committee approved of the sketch plan sent down, in fact it was practically what had been prepared by Messrs Walker and Sanders, the Board had agreed to their request, but asked that the work be held over for a few months to save them from paying 1 interest on overdraft, and the committee agreed to that. The chairman and Messrs Walker and Atwill expressed their gratification that the negotiations had been conducted in a most amicable manner. On the chairman's suggestion a resolution of condolence with the family of the late Mr Bresn, who had been a good member of th.3 Trust, was minuted. The chairman reported that the Children's League had presented to the hospital a nice swing-boat for convalescent children, and proposed that two of the elder children of the League be' appointed visitors to the hospital while there were, cliil'dren ths-re, to help the unfortunates to enjoy the gift.—Mr Walker and Mr Atwill were glad to find, that the young people were talcing an interest in the hospital, and warmly supported the chairman's suggestion.

Dr Barclay reported that the Government probationers had been there six months, and they had not yet received a penny of salary. He suggested that the Trustees should make an advance to them as the Government would be sure to pay. The clerk said he had put down tlie pay meuts for that day, as an advance. There had been si, doubt whether the Government would recognise the claim but at length they had done so. The chairman, as visitor, reported that everything was going on satisfactorily. The. plans for the septic tank had been tent to'Dr Finch for approval. Accounts amounting to £234 10s were passed for payment.
