THE GOVERNOR'S TOUR,

HIS EXCELLENCY AT GISBORNE

GISBORNE, May 21,

This forenoon was observed as a halfholiday for the reception of the Governor. The weather was fine, and there was a. large attendance of the public at- the leception iii Trafalgar rotunda. Addresses of welcome from the County Council and Borough Council were presented to the Governor, who presented the prizes won at shooting ,by members of the Gisborno Rifles. A public levee was subsequently held. In the afternoon his Excellency proceeded by train to Tekarak, and opened a further section of railway to Puha, the line being now 24 miles from Gisborne. This evening he will be entertained at dinner by the Mayor and Councillors.
