The dawn of a new era is upon us, and the new era is agriculture in its widest and broadest sense. Farming has become a science, and its doors are open wide to the best- talent of the country. 'Agriculture offers the greatest field for young men of brains. There is no business that compares with it in financial importance, or that offers to young nun better opportunities for advancement ; healthy occupation, and contentment. Ir the young men could realise the openings that iue offered we are sure that more of them would prepare themselves for agricultural work. The country not only needs more agricultural teachers, investigators, managers of farms, <tc.. but it needs an increased number of intellitrent and pains taking farmers. It needs theory combined with practice. In short, it needs more applied jigricultural science.
