PARISHIONERS'MEETING.

ST. ANDREWS. ' A' very successful parish gathering wa:i held on Tuesday evening in the St. Andrews Public Hall, the occasion being th? adjourned meeting of parishoners, for the election of Church officers for the ensuing year; and presentation of last year's balance sheet; and also the election of officers of the Ladies' Guild. The late vestry having decided to try the experiment- of making the annual meeting moreattraclive, and more of the character of a conversazione, there was a large attendance and everything went off most pleasantly and harmoniously. The vicar, the Rev. L. Carsley Brady, presided, and the Ven. Archdeacon Harper occupied a seat on the platform. The chairman welcomed the Ven. Archdeacon Harper and all others present, and gave a satisfactory report for the past year. He dwelt on the urgent need of a parish-hall, for all church purposes, and the great inconvenience experienced for some years past through having a suitable building of the kind, aid expresssda-, hope; that the want would not,be allowed to remain much longer unsatisfied. -;- „ : - Mr R; Neville Hawkes submitted the balance sheat and report for.the past year, which were adopted. The Ten. Archdeacon-Harper then aldthe meeting, touching on some of the ' salient points in the Churchwarden's report,, and gave an interesting address, for which he. was heartily applauded. •; The vicar appointed Mr Mark Stephenson as • clergyman's warden, and Mr R. Neville Hawses was elected parishoneis' warden. The following were elected as vestrymen, viz. : —Messrs Arden, Askin, CarJwright, L'ague, Rhodes, leschemakti', Toymsead, L. iu. Williams, Geo. \VilJiams, and Li. Williams. Mr ilius. Kinross 'was zerappointsd auditor, with thanks lor his past gratuitous services. The election iouows:t-Mis R, N. Khodes, President; Mrs Cartwright, ■'Vice-President; Miss Wedereil, Secretary and Treasurer; Mrs A. -0. Williams,; Mrs Arden, Mrs ' Gal;;arid J Miss were elected a committee io act in conjunction with ihs Hearty votes of thanks were passed to all the outgoing officers' and especially to Miss Lavers for her capable service-j as secretary and treasurer. The chairman proposed hearty votes of >thanks to the Sunday School teachers, members of choir, the chancel caretakers, decorators at -festivals, voluntary organists, the outgoing church officers, and especially to Mr R. Neville Hawkes for his valuable and much appreciated services as treasurer. Hearty votes of thanks were also given to the ladies and gentlemen for the various musical items so well rendered during the evening; and also to the ladies of the parish for providing refreshments, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all present. Mr Hawkes and Mr C. H. Be=?ley made conplimentary.references to the success attending the gathering, and alsomoved a, vote of thanks to Archdeacon Harper for assisting at the function. .;
