United Press Association—Per Electric '-' > Telegraph—Copyright. . . ' , EXPERIMENTS UPON; RABBITS. v SYDNEY': May.-,-.?./.'. Dr Danysz has . submitted, a report, to the Pastures Board on ; his ; experiments with virus. The experiments of- contagion show that -82. .infected rabbits died, and gave the disease to i94,.0ut of,3o7.healthy rabbits. The'spot where the infected rabbits have lived and died remain infectious for a certain'time. An important feature is that he was unable to obtain on Brough'ton Island the -infection' of, lumpy nose which is the most contagious form. This form was obtained in .the .'laboratory of the Board of Health at Sydney, so that it is concluded that .the special climatic conditions of the island prevent' the. appearance of this form of direct infection. Experiments prove, however, thiit this is easily accomplished by putting a certain quantity of the .'virus in the water which the rabbits drink, in the .proportion of one pint of the broth to, two; or three gallons of water, renewing it, every day. . Several tons of the virus could be niade per week or even day in a properly appointed laboratory. About ten pints of virus would suffice for one thousand acres. 'The question of the. immunity of other animals was lfft to Dr Tidswell, who was appointed by the Commonwealth, but Dr Danysz has satisfied himself upon that point, and his experiments have fully justified the opinion he held that, the virus is dangerous fully to rabbits.
