Sheep—There was a good mixed yarding of store sheep, forward lambs, good breeding ewes and wethers Selling well; and there was an improvement in the price of backward lots. The yarding of fat lamfca was a fairly large one, and there was a good proportion of prime lots. Competition among the export buyers was fairly keen, and for prime lines prices again showed an advance, while there was little change in others. Tegs made 18s to 21s 6d, standard weights 14s 6d to 17s 9d, lighter 12s 3d to 15s. There was an average yarJing of fat sheep in point of numbers," and it included some prime Knes of both wethers and ewes. Prime -wethers were in keen demand as were all classes of ewes, and prices were firmer all round. Sheep.—l 433 >vere penned. Owing to the lessened supply of sheep offered and their good quality prices for good sorts showed an advance of 2s and medium a rise of Is to Is 6d per head, two extra good sheep bringing as much as 29s 6d. Quotations:" Best wethers 22s to 24s 6d, txtra to 265, good 17s to 235, medium 12s to 15s, best ewes 16s 6d to 18s 6d, extra, to 19s 6u, good lis 6d to 13s 6d, medium 7s 6d to 10s. This week they were not so good in quality as those offered last week and in consequence of the freezing companies not being able to ship their supplies owing to boats not being available, there was but a moderate inquiry from these buyers and prices declined accordingly, the drop being about 2s all round. Quotations —Best lambs 15s 6*l to 16s 6d, a few extra pens 18s sd, good 13s to 14s 6d, medium 9s to Us 6d, small 6s to 7s 6d. Pigs.—lßo were penned, of very good finality except for a few pens of small sorts, which met with little inquiry.
