WESTS AXD THE BRESCIANS. West's Pictures, in their variety of excellence, are the best show of the sort, or one of the best, that lias visited Timaru. The "catalogue" was a freJi one, and included some things that called for specially enthusiastic applause. Hall-Jones back to Timaru, and with him Mr Race. A long series of pictuies of a stag hunt, ending with a long fight, in; a stream,'took the, spectators ir.to a picturesque bit of Devonshire, and among a fine pack of hounds. A long series. "Roniante of the Railway," illustrated eiigine and car building from the pig and log to the running train, and ai ride on. a strain, seemed almost real to some of those present. A visit to the Palis Zoo-'wfas notable for the perfect clearness; of the .pictures. It was nearly as good- as ■ being at a'menagerie. especially in ;£he case of one animal never likely to be "-een here in the flesh— a hippopotamus.
