THE "PIRAT-KS CLUB. The annual- meeting of the.Pirates Spot-: ball Club v,'as helcr in .Hutchison's ..rooms' last night. There were, 32 members pre-; t:ent, and Dr Dryden. (president), was hi the -chair.... .. . •Ilie janniial report showed that since .the inauguration, of the .club twelve' months ago, aifairs generally . had gone very smoothly. . The - season lmd been: a sue-, cessful one—Seniors pkiyed . si:c , matches', lost 5, drew 2, and won one. The Junior and President teams also acquitted themselves very crsdiUibly in the various matches . >Six .'.enior members took part in representative matches, and four juniors. In the annual seven-a-side tourna-: monl four teams competed, viz.. .two seniors, a. junior, and a President's iteam, and the senior A team were successful in theirgrade and won, the gold medals after a very ■ creditable stand. A sipoke concert was held towards the close of the season, and proved successful. The Committee heartily appreciated the many kindnesses shown. to them by the' President, Dr Dryden. Since the closing of the year Air I). G.'.mpbell owing- to pressure of business resigned >lns: position as secretary and treasurer of the club. At the -committee's request Mr ,W. T. Maben 'filled -the position in" the rr.tarim. The club's thanks were due to Mr Gampbell for his assistance, 'lhe balance sheet showed receipts £ls 17s. 6d, chief items, subscriptions £l2 5s 6d, and donations £2 12s.
