The New Zealand Shipping Company's Tongariro (twin screw) is timed to reach Timaru on the 15th inst. from Lyttelton. The- Hawea. left Greymouth on Thursday at 6 p.m. for Timaru, and has a cargo of about 300 tons of coal for this port. . The Koonya arrived from Oamaru before mid-day yesterday and landed 70 tons of general cargo. After loading about 2-CO tons of produce for West Coast ports she sailed late hist night, via- Lyttetlon. •The Wanaka arrived from Dunedin early yesterday mdrninsr, having left the dock on - Thursday. The Wanaka loads about 1000 tons of produce for Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland, and also 1000 sheep consigned to Auckland. ■ She sails to-night for Napier. , The Shaw, : Snvill and Albion Company's Tokomaru is due. at Timaru on Thursday morning next from Auckland, via Lyttelton. She will discharge about 1200 tons of ; general cargo from Home and load wool, frozen meat. etc. The Tokomaru will probably remain in port till Saturday night. A TUG BOAT LOST. Per Prewt Association. AUCKLAND, February 8. .. The tug boat Awarua was totally wrecked near Whangarei heads on Wednesday. The steamer had coaled at Whangarei and went to Kauri Mount for -a raft of logs. When making into shore, about half a mile ofi she struck a rock (uncharted). A heavy surge was on: at the-time and the rocks penetrated the bottom of the vessel which was soon full of water. (The tug boat Pelican was dispatched by the Devonport Ferry Company, the owners of the Awarua, and the vessel stripped of everything of value. The crew are safe. / The company insure their own vessels.
