Much sympathy is felt for him and his wife, who are well known and respected in this district. At the close of ordinary business yesterday, the Timaru Licensed Victuallers' Association presented Mr and Mrs Reilly with -a handsome marble clock. In making the presentation Air John Hole said that Mr Keilly was very highly respected by all classes, and the association could not let him depart without giving him some little , souvenir of the good wishes of his fellow! members of the Association. Since the derelict barque Lutterworth was mooied alongside the wharf at Wellington, shore thieves have been on board and stolen all that was worth stealing. The' spirit room was broken into, and whisky, and .tobacco stolen. The captain's binoculars were taken, Mrs Hicks' wardrobe was ransacked, and practically ■destroyed- leaving her with .scarcely a change of clothes, and even the" shipwrecked sailors'' effects were removed by thieves. The police are inquiring into the affair. A meeting of the Fairlie Football Club was held on Thursday night for the purpose of. deciding the wim:er of Mr Ci Pilkington's trophy to be presented to the best all • round and hardest working forward -during the past season. On the vote of the members J. Burnett was awarded the trophy. The" meeting then dealt with the athletic sports to be held in connection with the club.
