SALE, pF GLEN-QUOICH STATIOX. Wright, Stephenson and Co., report as follows: —There was a large attendance at our Crescent Eoonis on Saturday, to •witness the sale of the well-kno-ihi *Glenquoich station, • situated at Athol, on the Lumsdeh-Kingston line. The property was selected in the very early days of the /Southland province by the late Jos. Rogers, and has been worked by him and his family ever since. The property has been a very profitable one for many years, more especially since the almost 'total disappearance of the rabbits wbieh, at one time, infested the neighbourhood. Glenquoich does not consist of high country, as is supposed by many, who judge the countiy by the. high bills near the railway, these sharp-pointed tops benig much higher than .the fine grazing .■ lying away to the west, Glenq_uoich is, indeed, one of the best pastoral countries in Southland, the fine,, strong, healthy flock of 24,000 sbeep being ample evidence, of its...capabilities.- So many of the'j large, pastoral properties in the south have found new owners within the past two-or three years, that there was no doubt, from the first that tfiere would be keen competition for Glenquoich. After reading over the conditions of trie sale, the auctioneer (Mr C. Hcwells), did not' ha.re long to wait for a.-strargjitout offer of £20,000-for the property as a going concern. Competition . was' keen, and in ashort time, the property was knocked down to Mr Macdonald, of*Edenda% for £21,:500. The following are tie particulars: Freehold, 1891 acres, . various sections in Eyre district, on which are erected a fine' fcomestead and all the necessary Buildings> besides -a beautiful garden and "mrchard.
