Sir.—As the farmers are complaining very much about the waste of grain cattued by the bird*, yon might find room for the following. My cure is a tax, per bushel. on the grain grown for each farmer, way Id per bushel, lie amount to be used to buy the heads of birds; every thresher to bo compelled by Act of Parliament to send in to the Agricultural Department a stalemeat showing bow much he has thrashed for each farmer; the amount to be 'collected in the same way an the sheep tax. Thin would be a. fair tax. only theme paying who got the benefit, and according to the yield of grain. I am. etc., T. ORE. Waitolri F:»t. 17th February, 1906.
