„—_ FAIRLIE STOCK^SALK,..,.. There was a very good yarding of sheep at this sale yesterday. Tie sale through•out was spirited, 2-tooth ewes bringing exceptionally good prices, the quality being good, and the Strathconan and Clayton ■ewes brought top prices. Store wethers brought full market value. The attendance was very good. Prices were as follows .-—Sheep, 4071 were yarded; 51 fat -wethers at 18s 3d, 21 fat ewes at 14s, 3 fat. ewes at 12s 6d; stores, 50 merino wethers at ss, 38 forward merino wethera at Bs, 807 s.m. merino wethers at 7s-, 112 merino wethers at 6s 10dj 100 crossbred wethers at 15s 2d, 83 2 and 4-tooth wethers at 'l4s Bd, 52 : 2-tboth ewes at 18s 9d, ■ 132 2-tooth ewes at 20s ld r 200 2-tooth ewes at 18s 6d; 200 ditto at 18s sd, 505 2-tooth ewes at 19s 6d, 250 ditto at 20s, SOO 2-tooth ewes-(Clayton) at 20s, 230 2-tootb ewes (Strathconan) at 21s, 230 ewes and lambs at 8s sd; lambs; 83 fat and forward at: 13s, 162 halfbred mixed sexes at Us, 200 lambs at 10s 4d. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable message from the High Commissioner, dated JLondon 17th inst. : " The mutton market is dull; Canterbury « mutton per lb; for other and North Island, 3id per lb. Stocks on hand are light. River plate mutton, 3£d; Australian 3£d per lb. ■ "The lamb market is steadier. The price of New Zealand is s|d per lb; Australian lamb 4d per lb, of which there is a large supply. "There has been no alteration in the beef market since last report. "The-butter market is stronger, their oeing a better demand. I consider that prices are : likely to improve. Choicest New Zealand 107s per cwt; Danish 115s. "The cheese market is firm, there being a better demand; New Zealand cheese is quoted at 60s per cwt. The hemp market is steady in spot deliveries' but dull for distant deliveries. Good fair Wellington grade £33 per ton; April to June shipments £32. The Manila market is weaker. "The cocksfoot seed market is firm at last quotation. "The wool market is firm ancf a good demand continues...
