Caedmon, one of the early English writers.. They were found' in Amsterdam by Archbishop Ussher. They were printed! by a Frenchman named Junius." Archdeacon Harper said the examiner should not have asked such a question, and} he thought the answer showed a good deal of ingenuity. "Junius" had always been a, riddle, aiid an examiner should let the subject alone. Examiners often seemed to put- questions to find out what boys did not know, not what they did know. Mr Barclay said that " Junius" is mentioned in the literary histories, and school boys should therefore have some idea about him; butj in. this answer the boy had not approached him at a single point.' Archdeacon Harper repeated that the ' question should not have beet? put. SYNOPSIS OF NEW ADVERTISEMENTS. J. B. Rutland—Large sale of furniture to-morrow.
