Manawatu batted 18 men and fielded 12. Each side completed ah innings. Manawatu went in first and put up 198 nms>; H. Hewitt 20, Goldspring 17, Rev. Stephenson 14; chiefly against the bowling of Armstrong and Wilkinson.- The Melbourne Club scored 118; Irwin 31, Aitken 26, Raiisford 14. The visitors treated Bartlett very respectfully and could not score off him. The match will be continued on Monday. MATCHES AT CHRISTCHURCH. CHRISTCHURCH, February 17. West : Christchurch commenced a- match against Riccarton and made 255 for their first innings;' Vernon 67, H. Lawrence-61, Frankish 40, J. Lawrence 31. Riccarton made 19 for one wicket. The return match between tne above teams was played on the Aviiletie Ground on Saturday -last and resulted in a very ■even draw. Geraldine won the- toss and on a- splendid wicket took first strike.
