WAXGAXUL February 18. A youth named Hans Buckingham tra» drowned in tie river this afternoon. He and two other youths were sailing when their bout ran a ground. The Ixiat wa* pushed <iff. but upset about 16 ftel from the shore. Buckingham, who was the only cwimmer of the parly. stalled for Miorc, but suddenly sank feet fcrem-jst. without uttering a word. Tie otfeos clung to tie boat till rescued. Tlae body has nol yet been recorded.
IXVLRCARGILL. February 17. A sudden death occurred at Wright'sr Bush on Friday. Mrs Bait. an elderly widow, was walking Awards the railway station when a pawing pettier offered U* give her a lilt in liis trap. When istcppiuir up into the trap «he fell dead.
