BURGLARY AT AUCKLAND.

A COXVEXT RAXSACKED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAXD, February 13. Early this morning Bishop Ltnjhan's residence and the Convent were ransacked by burglars. In the abseste of Bishop Lenihan. the officials declir.e to give particulars, but it is understood that the thieves made a good haul, especially in view of the fact tliat wheel marks of a trap were seen outside, and that yesterday was the opening day of the Convent School', when the fees are received.

Three gangs of burglars operated'on the Bishop's palace and convent. It. transpires that the burglars made a good haul, though n large sum of money was- overlooked. Ii» the Bishop's residence the thieves forced open the doors of cupboards, and ransacked them of valuables.

Further particulars regarding the Jobbery at the Roman Catholic Bishop's residence, show that three cheques and £6 odd in cash were stolen.

Last- night thieves entered M;s Parkinson's house in Hardinge »»t while the members of the family were in bed and went tiirough all the furniture .capable of holding valuables. They made the most, of a thorough search, strewing the contents all over the floor and were successful in discovering £lO which had been done up into packages for the payment of tradesmen's biils, and placed in the sideboard cupboard.
