A young Polish nobleman, Count Job ana von Buinski, has beea - sentencedAto three months' imprisonment and a heavy fine at Landsberg for cheating at cards. He played with a number of noblemen at the shooting-box of his uncle, Count Bogislaw von Buinski, at Domke, for sovereign points. He lost at first, but "won largely on changing seats. After play had. gone on for some hours, Baron Poninski accused him of cheating, and demanded an examination. of the cards. The court- of. honour de-: clared his play suspicious. Count Johann thereupon challenged Baron Poninski to a duel. The latter nobleman declined, saying his challenger was not a man of honour. According to the evidence given at the trial, Count Johann played -with . more than the proper number of cards. Count Wartenslebaa, who was a member of the party, said £IOO worth of his counters disappeared, and were found in Count Johanu's pockets. In passing sentence, the court gave him an extra month for challenging to a duel.
