FIVE MINERS ENTOMBED

An inrush of water on Saturday entombed five men in a mine at Clackmannan. The rescuers in the upper seam made a two-inch bore and sent food to three •of the men; also tools to enable them t« reach the remaining two. A father and hia two sons have been rescued; and it is hoped! to save all. Per Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, February 7. Mr John Coop, of Kaituna, met with a fatal accident last night. He had been out buying stock, and on the road home had in some way fallen against the wheel of the sulky lie was driving, his neck being dislocated. The deceased was most highlv respected in the district.
