THE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, January 2. The championship tennis tournament was 1 concluded this afternooix. Heavy rain fell all the morning, and the courts were decidedly soft. > Fisher and Miss. Ward beat Swanston I and Miss Powdrell in the semi-final round of the combined championship doubles 6-4, 6-4. In the final.. Parker and Miss. Nunne- , ley beat Fisher and Miss Ward 6-3, 6-3, I and won the championship. Miss Powdrell beat "Miss Ross in the final of the ladies' handicap singles. The ladies' handicap doubles fell to Misses Powdrell and Campbell. The combined handicap doubles was wot ' b* Kiver and Miss Berkeley, both of Christchurch.
