WAIMATAITAI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The first monthly meeting oJ the newly" i elected Committee of the Waimataitai * school was held last evening. ». Present-^ -. Messrs C. H. T. Stemdak {chairman), Tanfci. Watson, M. Evans, Penrose, Martin, Beckmgnanf, and 6.- P- Wood (ton. sec). An apology was received from Mr Bowie. Mr Martin having declined the secretaryship, Mr Wood, .again took the position, and was cordially thanked by the Com--mittee. ' The headmaster reported that the number of pupils on the roll was boys 199, gir s 234; average attendance 187 and 120. Since last meeting Mr Gow had visited the school for two days, and was very helpful to the staff, as this was the first year under the new syllabus. He asked the Committee to arrange for a supply of fuei. An .aace would be required for chopping wood.—Received and adopted. In. the matter of fuel, the usual financial arrangements were made. Mr Watson " volunteered to cart .some coke to the school, and his offer was accepted. It was decided to take one ton of coke, a toil of ~coal, and kindling wood. At last meeting, a letter was read from a neighbour, asking that the grounds be closed out o£ school hoars, on account of persons passing through being an annoyance to neighbours. The matter was le.t over till this meeting.. Members conemaea thnp matter was intimately connected " with the improvement of the grounds, and Mr Beckingham -suggested that the Committee plan some improvements. In the meantime, it was resolved to close the grounds to the public. The that the other sehools having cadets corps approach the Education Board to endeavour to have a capitation placed .upon, the offi-' cers- of cadets, of £2 10s, to provide uni form* was unanimously adopted.
