Press Association. • v ASHBURTON, January 20. At the Magistrate's Court to-day a baker was "fined 20s on each charge for not duly stamping bread and selling bread deficient in weight. The bread was brown bread, and the defence was that brown bread tfas always sold as "fancy bread, which did not come under the weight standard, but the Magistrate held that it was important that bread should be stamped and sold up to weight. .
. DUNEDINj January 20. At a meeting of the Acclimatisation Society the chairman reported that the - total number of fry turned out for the season was 1.191,000 which is the largest number turned out in the history of the society.
