NOTICE is hereby given that a POLL of Ratepayers of the several Boroughs, Counties, and Parts of Counties situated within the Timaru . Harbour District, as defined by "The Timaru Harbour Board Act, 1882," will be taken at the undermentioned places on MONDAY, the-Thir-tieth day of January, 1905, commencing at' the', hour,; of nine o'clock in .the foren-oon. and closing at six! o'clock in the afternoon of that day;- on a proposal of the Timaru' Harbour Board to borrow a further sum of £50,000 -under the provisions of "The Harbours Act, 1878," and "The Timaru Harbour Board Loan Act, 1904," to be applied in and about the construction, completion, and carrying out of works for the improvement of the. Port of Timaru, including the completion of the construction of the Eastern Extension. Mole, and for wharfage accommodation and generally for the purposes stated in " The Timaru Harbour Board Loan Act, 1904." And any portion of the interest on the Loan which the' Fund shaU be_ insufficient Jo ■pay after providing for prior charges, to be secured by a Rate on all rateable property in the Harbour District, or by allocation ~of contributions from the local authorities in the said District as mentioned in Section 12 9f -the said Act: last above referred to. The said Loan of £50,000 to be raised in such sums as the Boardin office from time to time may determine, but no moneys are to be borrowed under the authority of the said 'Loan _ Act which shall produce to the lender a higher rate of interest than five pounds .per centum per annum, and the moneys to be borrowed under Section 3 as aforesaid are to be devoted exclusively to the purposes authorised by the said Loan Act.
