The following is the'result of the principal event:— GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE. My Mistake (Barbour) 1 Loch Fad-(R. Egan) 2 Plunger (Conolly) 3 Seventeen howes started. The positions were maintained to the turn, with Plunger and Loch Fad in close attendance. The best gallop of the morning from a time point of view was done, by Vladimir and Red Gauntlet, who finished together at the end of a mile run in lmin 49seb. Pipi decisively accounted for Sul--1 tana at the end of a circuit. Pampero finished "in front of 'Durable and Sirius at the end of a mile, buUhad the advantage' of the start. Rawiri strode freely over seven furlongs. '"Sanfoin, Reclaimer and Waiwera moved freely. Awahuri and Victor 11. ran ten furlongs, the last nine occupying 2min 9sec, Victor showing xo most advantage. MEETING AT DUNEDIN. \ DUNEDIN, August 9. With the Object of raising funds to enable them to hold the next rowing cham-' pionship meeting at Waihola, for which it is intended to apply, the Otago Rowing Association arranged a sports meeting in connection with the football trial match. There was a large attendance, and a good sum was realised. Denniston, of Osinaru, won the motor cycle race; and Burk, a son of the ex-champioh, won the mile and a half steeplechase from scratch.
