The Great Western Railway Company's special train conveying Lord Falmouth's household took fire through the groom, smoking in a horse-box. An elderly man named Charles Smith, a County Council employee, fell off the train at Kopu, near the Thames, this evening, and was run'over. One arm was severed above -the elbow. He was taken to the hospital, where it is reported his condition is"-serious. • . ,
August 9. An old man. named Bishop was founddead in a ruinous cottage in which he had lived iere. The odour showed that the-man had been dead for some days. The "cottage 1 was burned, to-day by order of the authorities.
