ASHBURTON RAM AND EWE FAIR.

Per Press Association. ASHBURTON, March 20. The annual ram and ewe fair was held to-day, when 16,000 ewes and nearly 500 rams were entered. Both rams and ewes came forward in capital condition. There was a large attendance of farmers, dealers and breeders, but the bidding was slow, and ewes showed a flight drop in price. For better class rams there was a good demand, and prices were satisfactory. The following are the prices of the principal sales of rams : —English Leicester and Border Leicester, 2Jgs to 4gs; Southdown, 4gs to sgs ; Shropshire, 4gs to sgs; stud Shropshires. up to lOgs; Leicesters, £gn to 2igs.
