Schooner —Lizzie Taylor. The s.s. Rosamond is due here on Wednesday, from Greymouth, via Lyttelton, -with 140,000 feet "of timber. The schooner Zior is expected to arrive daily from Hokitika. with a cargo of timber for Mr J. Jackson. x The s.s. Corinna left Westport-. for Timaru direct at 10" a.m. on Saturday, and is due here this morning. She lands 800 tons of coal for the Westport Coal Co. : The Hawea is to arrive to-day from Auckland, via the Bluff and Oamaru. She brings SO tons of sugar and sundries, and takes 400 tons of produce for Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland. The Upolu is due here to-morrow, with general cargo from Dunedin and Oamaru. She ships cargo for Wellington, Kelson, and New Plymouth. The schooner Lizzie Taylor arrived from ■ Havelock and Wanganui on Saturday morning. She brought 43,000 feet of tim- . ber and a quantity of furniture for Mr J. . Jackson. She will load produce for ■ Oamaru on account of the Belford Mills. The barque Devonport arrived ia. the offing on Saturday afternoon. She was j towed into the roadstead and anchored. The crew were passed by the Health Officer, but the vessel was" ordered to be - fumigated, and this was done yesterday. The Devonport will be brought inside the haifconr to-day. She comes from Clarence River, "is consigned to National Mortgage and Agencv "Company, and has 118 pieces of hewn timber, 95 sleepers and 91 turpentine piles or a total of 108,000 feet, for the Timaru Harbour ; Board.

STRANDING OF THE PAEROA. AUCKLAND, February 22. The Northern Steam Ship Company's Paerca. when entering Whakatane iieads with passengers at 6 o'clock this morning broke her steering gear and ran on to the rocks striking amidships. After an anxious time the incoming tide floated x her off. One of her boiler tubes burstand the boiler shifted. Most cf the passengers were landed in an open boat. The steamer has now been beached. ARRIVAL OF THE WAKANUI. WELLINGTON, February 23. The stealer Wakanui from London, via the Cape and Hobart, anchored in the stream this morning, owing to a case of smallpox having occurred on the vessel prior to her arrival at Hobart, the particulars cf which were given by cable a few days ago. Special precautions are being tr.Ven by the Health Department. The Health Officer is at present on board. ATT the passengers will probably be vaccinated before being permitted to land. t (By Cable.)
