THE AUCKLAND MEETING. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 21. Special prize-firing competitions, under the auspice of the Auckland Rifle Association, commenced to-day. Between 80 and 90 men are taking part. The Defence Match was won by W. Greenshields,, and J. D. Webster won the Waitaki Match. THE WANGANUI MEETING. WANGANUI, February 21. The Wanganui and West Coast Rifle Association meeting was continued this morning in a variable, light and tricky wind.

Winslade 220, Carer- 216, Herbert 212, Purnell 211, Scott 210, Parkes 207, Thorpe 206, Armitage 205, Davidson 203, Hughes 201, Kiernan 200, O'Neill 195, White 195, Poole 194. These fire in the Grand Aggregate Match. Winslade, of Wanganui, won the champion medal. About 60 riflemen, including representatives from all parts of the coasts took part in the meeting, and some good shooting resulted. It was the first of tbe kind, but there is every indication that it will not be the last. THE TRENTHAM MEETING. WELLINGTON, February 21. It is expected that there- will be about 350 competitors at the New Zealand Rifle Association meeting next week, as' against 180 last year. Of- these 105 are from the Wellington, Taranaki and Hawke's Bay districts. THE OTAGO MEETING. DUNEDIN, February 21. The leading aggregates for the Otago Rifle Association meeting, with one match to go, are Lieutenant Jack. City Guards, 186; Private Smith, Kaitangata Rifles, 185; Private T. Jones, Waikari Rifles. 181; Private Smaill, Kaitangata Rifles, 180.
